Some General Information Pertaining To DOT Helmets

In the UK and European countries, there are special safety standards pertaining to the usage of motorcycle helmets. Likewise, the US government released a safety standard called as FMVSS or Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 218. According to the US Law, motorcycle helmets that do not meet the criteria set by DOT Standards are not allowed for sale in the US. If the samples pass the required tests under specific conditions, the manufacturer is given permission to affix DOT stickers to helmets of that particular model. To proceed with mass production without waiting for approval may cause serious financial losses to the helmet manufacturer. It will be more prudent to ensure compliance with the DOT Standards before producing vast amounts of helmets.
