ATV Aftermarket parts will get you moving faster!

A stock ATV that is purchased from the ATV or motorcycle dealership never fails to amaze me how powerless they are getting.  It seems these days that everything is toned down do to the many regulations that these vehicles must adhere to.

The fact of the matter is, the quads that are being built now-a-days are becoming more gutless every year.  Quads and dirt bikes now have to qualify for smog rules in some states where they never did in the past.  This may be a good thing for the environment, but it is not a good thing for fun.

Since 2005, some quads and dirt bikes have smog equipment on them that tones down the amount of emissions that the bikes create.  The positive of this is cleaner air, but one of the by products is a bike that has less pop on the throttle and a lower top end.  The good thing about this, is that the bikes are manufacturered with these on, but they can easily be removed with ATV aftermarket parts that will let you remove the equipment.

All types of ATV aftermarket parts for quads are available to increase the power of your bike.  For years, people have been changing the exhausts on these ATVs which lets the engine breathe a bit more easy.  The result is a few more horsepower, which does wonders on a 200 lb bikes.  Of course, some of these exhausts violate the decible level restrictions at some National Parks, be sure to check on this before changing an exhaust.

Aftermarket jetting and intakes can also increase the pep on your ATV.  Changing the mixture of air to fuel ratio will increase your horsepower the came as leting your engine breathe a little better.  But watch out, having a mixture that is too rich can overheat your engine, while having a mixture too lean will make the bike bog down or not idle.

One other aftermarket part for ATVs that is common is the rev box.  Putting a rev box on an ATV or quad will increase an additional 1-3 horsepower.  The rev box essentially raises the rev limiter so that the you can shift the bike a little higher in the power band.  The issue with these is that over time, too much over-revving could lead to damage in your ATV engine.  So be forewarned.

There are many ATV aftermarket parts available to pep up your quad or motorcycle.  Picking out the right ones and where should not be a daunting task.  Just research what you are looking for and find a good quality retailer.
